Lewis Hamilton won the Styrian Grand PrixJuly 13, 2020
The race turned out to be a real nightmare for the Ferrari team, and Sergio Perez, the pilot of the Racing Point team, became the hero of the race.
On Sunday, July 12, the second stage of the Formula 1 season took place – the race took place in the Austrian Spielberg. The winner was the British pilot of the Mercedes Lewis Hamilton. The six-time world champion won in a confident style, leading almost throughout the race. The second position was taken by Valtteri Bottas from Mercedes, bringing his team a winning double. Due to a later pit stop, the Finnish pilot saved his tires better, and 3 laps before the finish ahead of Max Verstappen, representing the Red Bull.
Despite the fact that Verstappen could not compete for the victory, his pace was very encouraging. On the track in Hungary, which is slightly more suitable for the Red Bull, Verstappen can perform better. After two stages, Bottas continues to lead the overall standings with 43 points, ahead of Hamilton by 6 points. A wonderful race was held by Sergio Perez of Racing Point. After an unsuccessful qualification and starting from the 17th position, Perez constantly broke through and made a number of beautiful overtaking. The Mexican crossed the finish line sixth, although he fought for fourth position with Alexander Albon from the Red Bull. During the attack, Perez damaged the front wing and lost 2 positions.
The stage for the Ferrari team turned out to be a failure, the pilots who did not shine in the qualification, but already in the first round collided with each other. As a result of the accident, Sebastian Vettel lost the rear wing, which led to the emergence of a safety car.
And Charles Leclerc got off on the 5th lap due to a damaged bottom. The race for the Renault team was not too successful. Esteban Okon lost the race due to overheating of the car, and for Daniel Riccardo the team chose not the most successful tactics. A good race was conducted by the McLaren team – its pilots Lando Norris and Carlos Saines took 5th and 9th positions.
