Leclaire: I really like the Bahraini trackMarch 26, 2019
In the Ferrari hope that in Bahrain, the team car will regain the speed that they showed in the pre-season tests. The pilots of the team talked about the difficulties that they will have to face on the highway Sakhir, and shared their expectations from the weekend.
Sebastian Vettel: “From the point of view of the pilot, the difficulty level of the track in Bahrain can be called normal. However, it is not always easy to find the right pace at workouts, because the track is covered with sand and a strong wind often blows.
Sometimes each circle on this route is different from the previous one, and this can play a role, especially in qualifying: it is enough to step off the ideal trajectory even a few centimeters so that the wheels start to slide and you lose the tenths of a second irrevocably.
Every mistake here in terms of lap time is very expensive – for the same reason you need to be very careful when overtaking, you need to wait for a small pilot error ahead to try to get ahead of him. The ideal points to attack are the first and the 14th turns, after two long straight lines. ”
Charles Leclaire: “Sakhir is a rather technical track where we, the pilots, often face extreme conditions. That is why during the free races it is important to try a lot of different configurations to be prepared for any surprises.
I really like to fly on this track. I spoke here in Formula 2 and immediately enjoyed it. In the past year, everything was a little more difficult, but I was just starting my career in Formula 1. I can’t wait to go to the Sakhir highway to Ferrari – I want to achieve a good result “.
