Leclair: Binotto can be stiff if necessaryOctober 22, 2019
Charles Lecler is pleased with the work with Mattia Binotto and believes that in Formula 1 it is important to have a person close by who is able to remain calm under constant stress.
Charles Lecler: “Mattia is a calm person, and this is important in Formula 1, where the frantic pace of life, and you are constantly excited. It’s good when there is someone nearby who maintains composure under any circumstances, and whom you can rely on. If necessary, it can be quite tough. It seems to me that these are the qualities that a team leader should have.
We do not need conflicts, and the team does not like the tense atmosphere. Therefore, at such moments, Mattia must act tough – this helps us immediately return to the right path. He knows that I am self-critical, so he adapts to this, although, perhaps, he could be more severe. But if he sees that I myself am not happy that he ruined everything, he tries to support me. This year it happened several times: for example, after an unsuccessful race in Germany, he helped me become better. ”
