Land Rover with might and main is testing a new generation of Defender SUVMarch 19, 2019
The new generation of the British SUV should be presented this year. The car will be available in 10 body styles.
The British automaker – Land Rover, which belongs to the Indian Tata Motors, has launched a new series of tests of its new generation of off-road legend – the Land Rover Defender SUV. Our insiders report that engineers are currently putting the final touches. Two prototypes of the long-awaited novelty, which differed in the length of the wheelbase and the number of doors, were observed at the tests.
All the camouflage in the world can not mask the square shape of the body, and Defender fans of the last century will surely be glad to see that it will be preserved.
On prototype bodies there is no “BEST 4X4 FAR” inscription, which we saw on samples of the previous year. Fully LED headlights in front and rear mean that the next generation of the SUV will keep up with the times, while short overhangs indicate that off-road “king” status will be preserved.
Although we cannot see what is in the salons of these two prototypes, let us recall that the image with the model of the model cabin appeared on the Internet about a month ago. This is not the final design of the interior of an SUV, but, nevertheless, it was a good opportunity to get an idea of a much more technological interior, compared to the legendary Defender of the last century.
Technical details about the novelty at the time of writing are scarce. Defender is supposed to get an independent rear suspension. Various body types are being developed, including versions with a soft roof and a cargo platform.
Not so long ago, our publication wrote that the new Land Rover Defender was declassified in an exclusive render.
