Oriented SUV will appear in 2026
In the family of Land Rover Defender a new generation of Sport will appear with an electric power plant. The off-road vehicle will receive special chassis settings for comfortable movement on ordinary roads and will be targeted at wealthy clients of the brand who lead an active lifestyle. Defender Sport can enter the market in 2026.
According to the Car magazine, the usual Defender, known as the internal symbol L851, will appear in 2020. The model will be offered with different body variants: the first to enter the market are the long-wheelbase four-door version and the short-base two-door one with a hard and soft top. Later, part of the Defender line will be a pickup.
According to preliminary information, the range of engines of the new Defender will consist of petrol and diesel units of the Ingenium family. In this case, the electric version, according to rumors, will be only in the “sports” SUV. Defender will be built on a new aluminum platform with a fully independent suspension.
In early October, near the research center of Jaguar Land Rover in Gadon, test Defender of a new generation were seen. JLR head of marketing Felix Bratigem said that these are the first four prototypes from the pilot issue.
