Land Rover spoke about the tests of the new SUV Defender 2020December 28, 2018
Now the car is undergoing extensive testing throughout North America, in conditions of extremely low and high temperatures, as well as in conditions of lack of oxygen.
The new Land Rover Defender will retain its authentic square design, and is likely to be unified in many details with the new Discovery. Output model is scheduled only for 2020, but it can be assumed that the debut of the car will take place next year. Now the model passes the first life tests in a camouflaged image, and the conditions are the most severe: off-road conditions, temperatures from -40 to + 45, elevation differences up to 4 km above sea level, route and city runs, as well as possible driver errors.
Despite the fact that the presentation is not soon, the company is already stirring up interest in its new product, and released a whole series of photos and a video from the tests. Now only four prototypes are being tested, but as some elements are corrected, their number will increase.
In the new generation, a line of four-cylinder engines of the Ingenium line is expected (the prototype is driven by one of these units – a two-liter diesel engine). Perhaps there will be versions with engines 3.0 V6 and 5.0 V8, as well as hybrid installations. Together with them will work automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system.
