In honor of the 70th anniversary of the model, which was removed from production in 2016, Land Rover also developed a modification of the SUV with a V8 engine and automatic transmission. It was presented in January. In total, 150 such cars are planned to be built.
The SUV will be equipped with a five-liter atmospheric eight-cylinder with a capacity of 405 horsepower (515 Nm) and an eight-speed automatic transmission ZF with a sports mode. The structure of the transmission Defender will include a lower, inter-axle and two inter-wheel differentials.
Land Rover Defender next generation will debut in 2019. The SUV will be built on an aluminum platform similar to that used on Discovery Sport. The Defender lineup will consist of modifications with petrol and diesel units, as well as versions with a hybrid power plant.
