Land Rover Defender new generation will get a pick-up version, according Autocar. Such car is considered by the company as a competitor Mercedes-Benz X-Class. Car will premiere in 2020. New products will be sold in Europe and the United States. Also, shipments to South America and Africa are not excluded. There is no official confirmation of this information yet.
The pickup will be built on the basis of the Defender with an elongated wheelbase. In the engine range will include petrol and diesel 2.0-liter engines of the Ingenium series. Most likely, the car will go on sale only in the version with a single cabin. The car will receive many versions, including luxurious modifications. Production of the pickup will be adjusted at the plant in Slovakia.
At the moment, Land Rover has already started road tests of the next generation of SUV Defender. According to unofficial data, the car will be built on aluminum architecture. The SUV will borrow many components and technical solutions from other current cars of the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) alliance.
Clients will be available 3- and 5-door versions with an open and buried body, a luxurious modification, and a version for extreme off-road. The motor scale of the novelty should include gasoline and diesel inflatable four-cylinder two-liter units, as well as three-liter V6 engines.
