Land Rover Defender turned into an art car. But to see all the beauty is not easyJanuary 28, 2019
All pictures on the frame of an SUV can be seen only if you lift the car on a lift
The Cool & Vintage Restoration Workshop from Portuguese Montijo specializes in the restoration of Land Rover SUVs. Recently, the company introduced its own art car based on Defender 110, the frame of which was manually painted by local artist Vasco Costa.
The choice of a place for drawing images in Cool & Vintage is explained as follows: art is a deeply personal concept, it does not need to be bulged out, putting, for example, on a car body. Art is explained not only as something, but also as an experience. In any case, according to Cool & Vintage, the future owner of this SUV will be able to pick it up on a lift and show pictures to anyone who wants it. As for the graphics, it is dedicated to Lisbon.
The art car is based on the 1983 Land Rover Defender 110. This is one of the first 110s that came off the assembly line at the Solihull plant as a replacement for the Series III. The SUV is equipped with a V-shaped “eight”, enhanced Fox suspension, air conditioning, and a Marshall wireless sound system. The car interior is trimmed with genuine leather, and the removable top is made of mohair.
The inspiration for the unusual “Defender” became famous art car BMW. The last car of the Art Car project was presented at the Beijing Minsheng Art Museum in the summer of 2017. Above the design of the BMW M6 GT3 of coal-black color, the Chinese artist Cao Fei worked, who in her work combined a physical object – a car, video and augmented reality.
