Lamborghini recognizes the importance of hybrid enginesNovember 22, 2018
The CEO of Lamborghini says that the hybrid cars (they are PHEV) are the future.
According to the plans of the leadership of the Italian brand Lamborghini, by 2021 the plug-in hybrid performance of the Aventador sports car should be presented. After that, similar versions of all other Lamborghini models will be presented.
As part of a recent interview, the current Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali discussed with journalists the possibility of PHEV in the current model range of the company.
It became known that the current engines V12 and V10 will receive a hybrid component. According to Mr. Domenicali, the creation of hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines is the only way to continue to create powerful engines, which at the same time will fully comply with existing standards for emissions of harmful substances.
As for the creation of an all-electric Lamborghini sports car, according to Stefan Domenicali, the company is not yet ready for this. He added that such a car could be presented in about seven years.
Earlier there were rumors that engineers from the German Porsche brand are developing a special platform for electric supercars, on the basis of which future Audi and Lamborghini models can be built. Note that all of the above automakers are part of the German car concern Volkswagen AG.
Now, as for the hybrid performance of the Lamborghini Urus crossover. Mr. Domenicali said that the creation of the PHEV version is certainly being considered, but this will happen a little later.
Finally, we note that the hybrid versions of the Aventador and Huracan, which will appear in the near future, will be able to boast of 1172- and 985-horsepower engines.
Well, not so long ago, there was information about the sports version of the crossover Lamborghini Urus ST-X.
