Lamborghini is going to release the electrified successor AventadorJanuary 20, 2018
Italians will agree to electrification of the supercar for the sake of increasing the capacity and reducing the level of harmful emissions.
Lamborghini Aventador has been on the market for seven years. According to rumors, the successor to this model of supercar from the manufacturer of the Italian Saint Agate Bolognese will appear in 2020. The novelty can receive a hybrid power unit. This is reported by the publication Motor Authority with reference to the Director for Research and Development of Lamborghini Maurizio Reggiani.
After interviewing the publication on the sidelines of the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Reggiani said: “With the new Aventador, we need to decide what the future of the supercar will be in terms of the electric contribution to the model.”
According to the top manager, the main problem for Lamborghini developers is the fight against excess weight. It’s not a secret that the batteries for the electric motor weigh a lot. And the next brand supercar should match its DNA.
Reggiani confirmed that the next generation Aventador, which may well change the name, will be equipped with a petrol engine V12. It means, downsizing precisely will not be. Also, the expert praised the robotic gearbox with a double clutch. It will stay too. Also successor will receive an active system of aerodynamics, which is used on the Huracán Performante.
According to rumors, the new Lamborghini Aventador will have a 7.0-liter V12 atmospheric engine with a capacity of 800 horsepower. The hybrid version can be equipped with a four-liter V8 Twin-Turbo motor with one or two electric motors. In the top version of the hybrid, the total power can be 1000 horsepower.
