KIA updated the crossover Kia SportageMay 4, 2020
The 2020 revised Kia Sportage model year receives different trim levels and several technological updates, including a new diesel engine.
KIA has optimized the Kia Sportage range, reducing it to medium-sized versions, adding a fresh pair of sports models of the top-of-the-range GT-Line and GT-Line S configurations. The list of standard equipment of the updated Sportage 2 now includes a set of 17-inch alloy wheels, electrically folding exterior mirrors, automatic wipers and rear parking sensors.
The model is equipped with dual-zone climate control, a multi-function leather steering wheel, an auto-dimming interior mirror, as well as heated front and rear seats and an 8-inch infotainment system with touch screen, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and voice control.
The updated Sportage can be ordered at a price of £ 22,445, with first deliveries expected by the end of the year. Models starting at £ 26,445 are equipped with LED headlights, black plastic body pads, front parking sensors and a panoramic sunroof. The interior receives leather upholstery, electrically adjustable front seats, a heated steering wheel, an electronic parking brake and a 4.2-inch instrument panel display.
the new version of the Kia GT-Line, starting at £ 26,660, is essentially a Sport-styled Sportage 2 specification with unique 19-inch alloy wheels, a new diamond grille with LED mesh, LED fog lights and an exhaust system with two exits. Inside, customers get a set of aluminum pedals, a black ceiling and a new sports steering wheel.
Prices for the flagship Sportage GT-Line S crossover start at £ 30,510. Unlike the GT-Line, this option gets a panoramic sunroof, a JBL audio system with eight speakers, electrically adjustable, heated and ventilated front seats, an electric rear door, a wireless charger for a smartphone and an all-round camera.
KIA has also replaced the 1.7-liter Sportage with a new hybrid powertrain. The system includes a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, a belt-driven starter-generator and a 0.44 kWh battery for a total output of 134 hp. and 320 Nm of torque. All this is connected with 6-speed manual transmission or 7-speed automatic transmission with double clutch. The revised Sportage is also offered with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with 130 hp. and 161 Nm in the initial version and 174 hp and 265 Nm in a more powerful turbocharged version.
Safety and technology are also improving: the standard equipment for all models now includes a rear view camera, cruise control, as well as lane keeping systems, automatic high beams, and trailer stability. Like the previous model, the “restyled” got six airbags and a pair of ISOFIX attachment points for the rear seat.
