Kia unveils updated 2021 Stinger sports liftbackSeptember 23, 2020
A couple of hours ago, the updated Kia Stinger liftback was presented. The new 2021 model year has received changes in the engine range, as well as an updated list of options. The start of sales in Europe is scheduled for late 2020 – early 2021.
When Kia introduced the Stinger to the European market in early 2017, the stylish sports liftback was available with three engines. The base was a four-cylinder 2.0-liter petrol engine with 251 hp. (353 Nm). There was also an economical 2.2-liter turbo diesel with 197 hp. (440 Nm).
The 2021 South Korean car is now only available with a 3.3-liter V6 twin-turbo engine.
The more powerful power plant boasts 365 hp. (510 Nm). This is slightly lower than the international version of this engine, where the V6 is paired with a new electronic variable exhaust valve system that gives three more horsepower.
The V6 continues to run with an eight-speed automatic transmission and is offered with a choice of rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. The British model comes exclusively with all-wheel drive and takes just 4.9 seconds to accelerate to 100 km / h. The American version of the Stinger received a 2.5-liter 300 hp engine. (422 Nm).
The 2021 Kia Stinger for Europe has an updated suite of what Kia calls Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). There is now a blind spot system that manifests itself in the digital instrument cluster just like other recent Kia models. Additional systems featured in the updated model include Safe Exit Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Rear Passenger Warning and Highway Driving Assistance.
Kia will bring the refreshed Stinger on sale in Europe by the end of 2020 and early 2021 with a seven-year or 160,000 km mileage warranty.
