Kia KX5 has entered the Chinese market
Dongfeng Yueda Kia, a joint venture of Dongfeng Motor Corporation, the Yueda Group and Kia Motors, introduced a localized version of the Sportage called KX5 on the Chinese market. From the usual crossover to us, it differs completely redesigned front end.
The Kia KX5 doesn’t have a proprietary “tiger nose”, multi-section headlights are narrow and combined with a chrome-rimmed grille. This appearance is more conservative, which should attract local buyers. Behind the changes are not so many and they are mostly cosmetic. For example, the lanterns have a different pattern, and the strip connecting them is also decorated with chrome.
The front panel is also completely different with a sticking-out multimedia tablet, another arrangement of ventilation deflectors, a climate control unit with a touch control panel and a seven-inch digital dashboard. Equipment Kia KX5 includes a circular review system, wireless charging for smartphones and voice control function, working on the basis of artificial intelligence.
The Chinese version of the Sportage is offered with a 1.6 T-GDI “turbo” with a capacity of 177 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque, as well as a two-liter engine with a return of 162 power and 203 Nm of torque. The box is a seven-speed robotized or a six-speed automatic transmission, respectively. The cost of KX5 – from 154,800 yuan.
