KIA presented a hybrid version of the new crossover SorentoAugust 26, 2020
The plug-in hybrid version will appear after the diesel modification is on the market. Official prices are still kept secret.
KIA spoke about the new version of the 2021 Sorento crossover model year. Details were released on Wednesday 26 August. This is a plug-in hybrid vehicle modification. The power plant is based on a 1.6-liter turbo engine with 177 hp. and is complemented by a 90 hp electric motor powered by a 13.8 kWh battery. Thus, the total output of the power plant reaches 261 hp.
KIA also spoke about the innovative powertrain. At first glance, the classic 6-speed automatic transmission is used, which transmits torque to the front and rear axles. However, the Korean company has managed to implement an independent cooling system for the battery, which ensures its high efficiency.
Thus, the plug-in hybrid installation on the new Sorento will be the most technologically advanced of all KIA models. It is expected that this will allow to increase the range solely on electricity, as well as reduce the amount of harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
It is already known that the layout will not affect the number of seats in the cabin – the KIA Sorento PHEV can comfortably accommodate 7 people.
The cost of the car has not yet been announced, however, according to preliminary data, it will be higher than that of the basic version, which was estimated at 38,845 pounds sterling
Earlier it became known that the Korean company KIA will change its logo by the end of this year. The modernization will be quite strong – the traditional oval will be replaced by three inextricably linked letters.
