Kia Optima: Sedan & Estate plug-in hybrid goes to the UK market

Kia has decided to enter the market of hybrid cars charged from a socket with a new model called Optima PHEV. Model promises 202 hp power and the autonomy of the drive’s electric range by 53 kilometers away.

Car manufacturer Kia is planning to lower overall CO2 emissions of its cars by 25% globally by the end of this year. Koreans take the first step in this direction by introducing a new model called the Kia Optima PHEV. The company’s engineers also worked on the aerodynamic characteristics of the car. By car active rear wing, which automatically closes at higher speeds, which significantly reduced the cX coefficient – 0.25.

For automaker the station wagon became the first in D-segment, and, quite spacious. Its luggage compartment volume of 552 liters increases to 1686 liters when the rear seats folded. With the price of 22 300 pounds sterling Optima Sportswagon is offered in three trim levels: the “2”, “3” and «GT-Line S». The high-performance version of the GT promise at the beginning of next year. Meantime, the only single engine offered by the automaker, is a 1.7-liter turbodiesel capacity of 141 hp with a torque of 340 Nm.

Options entry-level “2” in the standard equipped with a 7-inch screen infotainment system with satellite navigation, two-zone air conditioning, rear-view camera, electric heated folding side mirrors, 17-inch alloy wheels, two lumbar seating card the driver and the maximum set of security features.

The warranty on Kia Optima Sportswagon and Optima Plug-In Hybrid is seven years or 100,000 miles (about 160,000 km), whichever comes first.
