Kia has decided to enter the market of hybrid cars charged from a socket with a new model called Optima PHEV. Model promises 202 hp power and the autonomy of the drive’s electric range by 53 kilometers away.
Car manufacturer Kia is planning to lower overall CO2 emissions of its cars by 25% globally by the end of this year. Koreans take the first step in this direction by introducing a new model called the Kia Optima PHEV. Thus, the machine is the first hybrid model of the manufacturer, which can be recharged from the wall outlet.
The hybrid system consists of a 2-liter petrol engine capacity of 154 hp working together with the installation of electrical power 67 hp, as well as lithium-ion battery capacity of 9.8 kW. The total capacity of Kia Optima PHEV will make 202 hp and 375 Nm of torque.
In terms of efficiency, the new Kia Optima PHEV can guarantee the autonomy of the electric drive on 53 kilometers, and the average fuel consumption per 100 kilometers will be only 1.6 liters. Emissions of harmful gases into the atmosphere – 37 g/km.
The company’s engineers also worked on the aerodynamic characteristics of the car. By car active rear wing, which automatically closes at higher speeds, which significantly reduced the cX coefficient – 0.25.
For automaker the station wagon became the first in D-segment, and, quite spacious. Its luggage compartment volume of 552 liters increases to 1686 liters when the rear seats folded. With the price of 22 300 pounds sterling Optima Sportswagon is offered in three trim levels: the “2”, “3” and «GT-Line S». The high-performance version of the GT promise at the beginning of next year. Meantime, the only single engine offered by the automaker, is a 1.7-liter turbodiesel capacity of 141 hp with a torque of 340 Nm.
