KIA Niro came under review due to possible overheatingJune 6, 2019
The service campaign touched more than 5,000 Niro hybrid and plug-in hybrid models, as it became known yesterday.
Korean company KIA will send for repair 5,020 hybrid and plug-in hybrid Niro. The reason for starting a revocable campaign was the possible overheating of the electrical relay. There were no reports of the “problem” cars igniting – the announced service action is of a warning nature. It is known that the review will affect the British KIA Niro, descended from the conveyor in the period from November 2016 to September 2017. Each car from this list will have to be thoroughly checked, and if necessary, the masters will replace defective relays for free.
According to experts, such repairs will not take a lot of time from car owners: the master will spend about an hour replacing the relay. It is interesting that such a problem does not threaten with a completely electric e-Niro, since the developers used a completely different type of relay to create them.
Recall, a month earlier, KIA presented the Niro Hybrid and Niro Plug-In Hybrid. Under the hood of the first car there is a power plant, consisting of a 1.6-liter engine, an electric motor and a battery of 1.56 kWh. Its total power is 146 hp The plug-in hybrid version received a more efficient battery – 8.9 kWh.
