KIA is working on a new Seltos based compact carFebruary 11, 2020
The model is developed mainly for the Indian car market. However, in the future it may reach other countries.
Korean auto giant KIA is gearing up for a new compact van to be destined for India. According to experts, in the near future, India will enter the TOP-3 in car sales together with China and the United States. Therefore, KIA decided to take the lead and become a leader in India. The Seltos crossover, released last year, made a splash and for 5 months sold a circulation of 45.5 thousand units. Last month, the KIA Carnival minivan became available in India, and closer to the beginning of the second half of the year, the compact KIA Sonet will enter the market.
However, this did not seem to be enough for the company, and it decided to occupy the compact-niche niche. The release of such a 7-seater car is scheduled for next year. This information is official, as it was shared by the head of the Indian division of KIA.
It is assumed that the new product will be collected on the same platform as KIA Seltos. However, this will not prevent her from becoming more overall – the length should reach 4,500 mm with a wheelbase of 2,610 mm.
It is already known for sure that the car is positioned as a budget and will be much cheaper than Carnival. If the information about the cart common with KIA Seltos is confirmed, then the compact van must adopt power units from the donor. In the Indian car market, KIA Seltos is offered with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated turbodiesel engine. The return of both power units is 115 hp. Depending on the configuration, they can work with 6-speed manual transmission or variator.
