KIA is preparing a new ultra-compact crossover based on KIA RioAugust 20, 2019
It is planned that the future novelty called XRio will be the smallest crossover in the model line of the Korean brand.
KIA will develop a new compact crossover, the basis for which will be the Rio hatchback. This was written by the publication “Autocar”. According to unconfirmed official information, the future ultra-compact SUV may be called XRio by analogy with XCeed. New from KIA will compete with the German Volkswagen T-Cross crossover – experts call this model KIA XRio one of the main rivals.
The final decision on this project has not yet been announced. His fate will largely depend on the demand for the recently debuted KIA XCeed cross-hatchback. If the project is nevertheless approved, then the XRio will become the smallest SUV from KIA, and in the model range of the brand it will get a place one step lower than the Stonic compact cross.
In general, the leadership of the Korean brand considers the new XCeed to be its future bestseller. If expectations are met and the crossover will demonstrate high sales, this will be a serious argument in favor of entering the XRio market. This opinion is shared by Emilio Herrera, Chief Operating Officer of KIA Europe. There are no technical details on this project yet.
