Kia introduced a global variation of the new OptimaDecember 17, 2019
KIA Corporation demonstrated a “global” modification of the new KIA K5
The key differences are the output of the “charged” modification of the GT, a couple of new power units and a variation with an all-wheel drive system inaccessible in the local car market.
Earlier on the Internet, rumors were circulating about a possible change in the name of the car – supposedly Optima will acquire the K5 index in all car markets without exception, but at present this information has not been confirmed.
You should pay attention to the design of the machine, which the “global” model is no different from what is offered at home. The taillights were combined into one solid line, the mirrors are mounted on the door panels, and the flagship configuration has got LED optics.
The global Optima has become longer by 50 mm (up to 4905 mm) and wider by 25 mm (up to 1860 mm), while the height has decreased by 20 mm (up to 1445 mm). The distance between the axles increased by 45 mm and amounted to 2850 mm.
The differences begin with trim levels. In America, for example, they will offer a “charged” variation of the GT, which will differ from the simple model by the presence of 19-inch disks, twin exhaust pipes and a forced 290-horsepower (422 Nm) 2.5-liter T-GDi turbo engine.
The range of engines of the global machine is similar to the Korean version only partially – they are similar only to a 160-horsepower atmospheric power unit with a volume of 2.0 liters and a 180-horsepower “turbo four” T-GDi of 1.6 liters. In some markets, the sedan will be offered with 2.0- and 2.5-liter atmospheric engines with a capacity of 152 hp. and 194 hp respectively, and also a hybrid unit.
