Kia CV electric car to debut by summer 2021March 5, 2021
Kia’s UK website has already announced the availability and main features of the upcoming Kia CV production model.
As netizens found out, Kia already has a page on the UK site dedicated to the first electric car on the E-GMP platform. Apparently, the car will be available in the summer of 2021. Another confirmed feature is acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds.
We previously wrote that the South Korean automaker announced the latest electric vehicle as part of a global presentation of its new corporate identity, which includes both a name change and a new slogan: Movement That Inspires. Kia says it will focus on a wider variety of transportation solutions, including electric vehicles, mobility services and specialized vehicles.
Moreover, the new spirit of the brand will be accompanied by some changes in the corporate design of the brand, which will first appear on the aforementioned electric vehicle. Kia will use a simple naming scheme for its EV1 to EV9 electric vehicles. It’s unclear what the first car will be named, but the company showed us a teaser image of nine different vehicles, including two close-ups – a midsize crossover and a small hatchback. We assume that one of these vehicles will be unveiled in February.
The production electric crossover should have at least the same characteristics as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, that is, a range of up to 550 km, 313 horsepower and acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.2 seconds. Compared to the Ioniq 5, Kia’s crossover will have a “charged” version, which was previously mentioned by the head of R&D, who said that they had set a goal of reaching a top speed of 260 km / h.
Kia’s first next-generation electric vehicle will be unveiled in Europe in April 2021 and will be built on a unique platform specifically engineered with leading powertrain and EV technology. Following the launch of CV, up to 6 new specialized vehicles using the E-GMP platform will be produced by 2025.
