Kia Cerato will receive an electric versionApril 17, 2020
Kia Cerato is sold in China under the name Kia K3, and for the local car market they prepared a variation with a different, more aggressive exterior, a redone interior and its motor range.
In 2016, the plant launched the production of Horki 300E electric sedans, based on the Cerato base of the first generation. Cars can be purchased today. So, for a four-door with an unusual design, a 111-horsepower electric unit and a 37.6 kWh battery, they ask for 28 thousand dollars.
The new Kia K3 EV is made from modern Cerato according to the same simple recipe with minimal changes. However, the filling is deeper. In terms of technology, the K3 EV follows the Hyundai Lafesta EV sedan. On the front axle there is a Continental electric motor with a return of 184 hp, and the lithium-ion traction battery units are not only under the passenger compartment floor, but also behind the rear axle, under the boot floor. The battery capacity is 56.5 kWh, and the promised range is 490 km according to the old NEDC cycle, and not 300 km like the old Horki 300E.
Externally, the electric version differs from the standard Kia K3 sedan only in small touches. Even the plug on the front of the developers hid behind a standard grille, and in the rear bumper there are pseudo tubes of the exhaust system. In the Chinese car market, Kia K3 EV electric cars will be sold in June, but the price tag has not yet been announced.
