KIA announced 11 new products under a new brand at onceSeptember 16, 2020
Another Korean automaker has announced the creation of a separate brand for the BEV (battery electric vehicle) segment. Earlier, Hyundai introduced its “electric” sub-brand IONIQ. KIA followed in her footsteps.
The brand managed to release an intriguing teaser, which captures the darkened silhouettes of seven new cars at once. In general, as planned in KIA, by 2025 the list of electric cars will grow to 11 models.
The first seven (we see them in the teaser image) the Koreans promise to release within the next seven years. The “first-born” in this “battery” model range of the brand will be an electric car, so far known as EV. The car is currently being actively tested, and its world premiere is scheduled for next year.
KIA President Ho Sung Song, in turn, recalled that the first electric car of the KIA Ray EV brand appeared back in 2011. Since then, the company has sold over 100,000 battery-powered vehicles. However, he noted that the brand will continue to develop in this area.
The brand plans to increase the share of electric car sales to 25% by 2029.
Another step towards this goal, in addition to the release of new electric models, is the development of a network of charging stations. So, in the fall of last year, Koreans invested in “fast” charging stations IONITY in Europe. And by 2030, the automaker is going to create an extensive network of EZS at home – 1.5 thousand points.
