Ken Block’s Ford Mustang loses a drag race for the first timeDecember 1, 2020
Ken Block’s auto lost the drag race for the first time.
It became known that American race car driver Ken Block presented a new episode of his YouTube-series called “Hoonicorn vs The World”, in which an athlete competes in drag racing with modified cars. In the fourth series, a modified Audi RS 3 sleeper competed with the creator of Dzhimkhana.
Ken Block entered the competition with his Ford Mustang Hoonicorn. The front-wheel drive supercar is powered by a 6.7-liter V8 engine producing 1400 horsepower. A sequential gearbox is combined with this engine. There is information that the mass of the “Mustang” is 1360 kilograms.
The new rival of this extreme was the modified Audi RS 3 sedan, made in the style of “sleepers”. This is the name of the models that do not attract much attention, but have improved technical parameters. The Audi is powered by a 5.0-liter turbo engine with five cylinders, the output of which is 1100 hp. Together with the unit is combined a 7-speed “robot” with two clutches.
Due to the use of carbon fiber elements in the body structure, the mass of the sedan is comparable to the weight of the “Mustang”. At the same time, the small RS 3 overcomes a 402-meter drag distance in about 8 seconds. So, in the first race, Audi was surprisingly able to seriously compete with the Mustang. After a little delay at the start, the sleeper was almost able to catch up with Ken Block and was moving the entire distance in parallel with Hoonicorn. At the finish line, the RS 3 lagged about half of the hull.
