Ken Block broke vintage rally FordJuly 23, 2018
Ken Block had an accident in one of the stages of the New England Forest Rally, so that his racing Ford Escort Cosworth in 1991 rolled over and caught fire. Blok himself and co-driver Alex Gelsomino did not suffer, but the car could not be saved. About the causes of the accident Block told in his Instagram.
According to Blok, they were on the third place when the car had problems with the gearbox. During the left turn, she switched too late, and Ford hit a big rock. As a result of the impact, the car several times turned over, again got on the wheels and immediately caught fire.
Block introduced a new car for racing in the 2018 season in October last year. Ford Escort Cosworth is built in full compliance with the technical requirements of the rally “Group A” 90’s. It is based on the Sierra RS Cosworth chassis with a turbocharged engine, seven-speed sequential gearbox and four-wheel drive. In this case, even the interior of the car is made in accordance with the original rally cars of the 1990’s.
