Journalists got a prototype of the BMW 8 Series Gran CoupeJanuary 31, 2019
The Bavarian company BMW has a test center in the Far North, not far from Lapland (Finland). Testing the prototype 4-door coupe BMW 8 Series in cold weather is in full swing – the corresponding “spy” photos appeared at the disposal of our editorial board.
Almost two months have passed since we last saw the prototype of the long-awaited Bavarian novelty. Unfortunately, this time, little has changed in terms of camouflage. BMW even still keeps its branded badges covered, as if someone might take this huge false radiator grille for a similar one to Audi or Mercedes-Benz.
The 4-door version of the Bavarian flagship will be most different from the 2-door coupe 8 Series with its rear.
It is noteworthy that the abundance of snow clings to the back of the prototype in such a way that the body lines under the black camouflage film are clearly visible. In general, the back of the car looks like an exact copy of the version of the 2-door coupe.
The BMW 8 Series performed by the Gran Coupe – apparently this is exactly what the novelty will be called, obviously, will receive different-sized doors, not to mention an elongated roof.
The novelty will receive the same 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with a power of 523 hp, as in the usual version of the flagship coupe. Thus, the model will become a serious competitor to the fastback Porsche Panamera, Audi A7 Sportback and Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door.
The official presentation of the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe will be held before the end of this year.
