Journalists first captured the interior of the updated BMW 5 SeriesOctober 12, 2019
At the disposal of our publication were pictures from the tests of the test prototype of the updated station wagon BMW 5-series. In general, the car does not change much. Presentation of new items is scheduled for next year.
Spy photos of partially disguised BMW 5 Series sedans and station wagons continue to arrive with retractable constancy. The last batch of shots allows us to once again look at the version of the prestigious business-class model in the station wagon body and, for the first time, look into the salon. As we can see, most of the car will remain unchanged.
Salon has not received significant changes. It is worth noting the screen of the updated infotainment system, which has increased in size. This was to be expected, because now there is such a trend in the industry – most automakers are increasing the screens of their multimedia systems.
Most of the seen prototype of the new BMW 5 Series Touring (as the station wagon is designated) in the published “spy” photos is covered with camouflage. The car will receive an updated design of the headlights and taillights, as well as a new front panel, with an increased false radiator grille and a slightly redesigned rear bumper.
It is expected that the novelty will be offered with the same gasoline and diesel engines as it is now. The base will remain a 2.0-liter unit, and the high-performance M5 will receive a powerful twin-turbo V8 engine.
The prestigious car will also receive a plug-in hybrid powerplant, which will be borrowed from the full-size sedan of the 7th series, where the in-line six-cylinder turbocharged engine, which works with an auxiliary electric motor, is taken as the basis. The total power is 389 horsepower. For the updated BMW 5 Series, the power of the plug-in hybrid powerplant will be 375 hp.
The next BMW 5 Series will be introduced in the middle or end of next year, and it will go on sale as a 2021 model year sedan / station wagon.
Not so long ago, our publication wrote that BMW recalls almost all cars manufactured since 2018. BMW has announced a recall campaign with the filing of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that will affect all BMW, Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Phantom models, as well as Toyota Supra.
