Journalists captured hybrid Mercedes-Benz C-Class 2021 sedanApril 1, 2019
A new batch of spy shots of the next generation German sedan offers us a first look at the hybrid version of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class car.
The PHEV C-Class version receives an additional “fuel tank” lid on the rear wing on the driver’s side, which hides a place for connecting the charging outlet. As another proof that this is a hybrid car, pay attention to the windshield, where the yellow dot indicates that the car is electrified is the internal designation of Mercedes-Benz.
Mercedes plans to release 20 hybrid models by the end of 2020. This number includes the electrified versions of the C-, E- and S-class, which will receive batteries of 13.5 kW * h.
The hybrid C-Class is based on the platform of the Mercedes MRA2, the wheelbase may be slightly lengthened to increase the space in the cabin, the weight gain will be minimal or not at all. Engineers of the brand still keep the appearance of the novelty under heavy camouflage, which makes it difficult to consider the eco-friendly novelty. Headlights seem smaller. In addition, a giant sensor in the center of the grille indicates the presence of an even more advanced technology to help the driver.
Spy shots do not allow us to look into the cabin of the new C-class in the PHEV version. Recently, however, the main idea of Mercedes is filling the dashboard with large, more attractive screens of the MBUX infotainment system. So we can confidently expect that this trend will continue in future models.
The new C-Class will debut in 2020 and will go on sale as a 2021 model year sedan in the United States.
