Journalists capture the next generation Genesis G80 sedanMay 26, 2019
It is already known that the prestigious novelty from the South Korean brand will be presented in September of this year. The car will no longer be offered with the V8 engine – Manfred Fitzgerald, general director of the South Korean automaker Genesis, told about it.
The prestigious Genesis brand, which belongs to Hyundai, decided it was time to stop selling the G80 model with a V8 engine. It is expected that a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter power unit in this car will take the place of a V-twin engine. The latest “spy” photos of the next-generation G80 sedan were kindly provided by foreign automotive publications. The official presentation of the new product is scheduled for September this year.
According to our friends, insiders, Manfred Fitzgerald, the general director of the South Korean Genesis brand, said that the new (second in line) generation of the G80, which began as the second-generation Hyundai Genesis, will retain its Lambda V6 engine.
According to Mr. Fitzgerald, the V8 engine will continue to be used in the updated version of the Genesis G90 for a few more years.
The latter is available on the Korean automotive market with an outdated, 420-horsepower, aspirated V8 engine. But one can say with certainty – this is the end for the V-shaped “eight”, we are talking about a motor without turbocharging. No further development will be no more.
“We really should pay great attention to current trends and legislation. So do not expect further work on the V8 engine, ”said Fitzgerald.
