A mysterious prototype of Ford’s new SUV has been spotted on tests. The prototype, whose body was heavily camouflaged, was spotted near the city of Dearborn (USA), where the Ford test site is located.
Ford is not going to take a break after the debut of the new-generation Bronco SUV. As is the case with other automakers, the Blue Oval is facing serious financial fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, and the best way to reduce losses is to introduce new models.
The compact Maverick pickup is one of the automaker’s upcoming models. It is quite possible that the journalists captured the prototype of this particular novelty.
A mysterious Ford test car has been spotted near Dearborn, USA. This is where the Ford landfill is located.
The brand’s engineers have done a great job of hiding the appearance of the prototype, leaving us almost no chance of guessing what is in front of us. One thing we did notice, though, is the boxy rear end and the long overhangs, which might also lead us to think that this is a test prototype of the new Maverick pickup. While the rear overhang isn’t long enough for the current Ranger’s cargo platform, the new Maverick is expected to have a shorter platform. This is what we see on this prototype.
The official presentation of the compact truck Ford Maverick, which will be built on the basis of the Escape (Kuga) crossover, should take place in 2021.
Actually, the car you see could be anything. It is quite possible that we are waiting for the presentation of another three-row SUV of American delirium. There are currently two three-row models in the US Blue Oval lineup, the Expedition SUV and the Explorer crossover.
