The company Jeep finally cease production of SUVs Jeep Wrangler of the previous generation, which are currently produced at the company in Toledo (Ohio). At the same time, the production line will be reworked for the production of a pickup truck built on the basis of the new Wrangler. This is reported by Automotive News.
At the moment, the factory in Toledo in parallel produce Wrangler both the former and the new generation. But in April, the old model will be removed from the assembly line and replaced with a pick-up truck, which is planned to be assembled to 100 thousand units per year.
The standard Jeep Wrangler of the new generation debuted at the motor show in Los Angeles. The off-road vehicle retained the frame structure, but at the same time received an aluminum body, due to which the mass of the car fell by 90 kilograms.
The Jeep Wrangler was equipped with a new two-liter four-cylinder turbo engine, running under the mild hybrid scheme – paired with a starter generator and a 48-volt electrical system. The delivery of the unit was 272 hp. and 400 Nm of torque.
In addition, the SUV will be available with a 3.6-liter atmospheric engine, giving out 285 forces and 353 Nm of torque. Transmission – a six-speed “mechanics” or eight-band “automatic”. Finally, next year the off-roader will have a version with a diesel three-liter motor, the characteristics of which are not yet called.
