Jeep will release an ultra-compact crossover in 2022
December 12, 2019It is expected that this car will become a little more Suzuki Jimny.
Jeep has seriously updated and expanded its lineup over the past few years. However, three-row Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer will soon appear, and by 2022 an ultra-compact crossover will be presented. Auto Express was able to find out this information during a conversation with the head of Jeep European Brand Marketing, Marco Pigozzi.
Auto Express reports that the new mini-jeep will be located below the Jeep Renegade in the model range of the brand. It is expected that the new product will compete with the compact Suzuki Jimny. However, the car will be shorter than the new Nissan Juke. Pigozzi pointed out that the new model will continue to meet the high standards of the brand in the field of off-road qualities.
The possibility of the appearance of an electric version is not denied. Recall that Jeep plans to introduce a hybrid version for each car of the brand by 2022. Jeep Global President Christian Menier recently said electrification plans should make the automaker “the greenest SUV brand in the world,” and hybrid models will be “the best SUVs.”
Experts believe that the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles with the PSA Group may provide the new car with a platform based on the PSA architecture that underlies the Peugeot 208, Vauxhall Corsa and others.
