Jeep will release a competitor for the Escalade ESV
September 7, 2020The large Jeep family is something to look out for.
Probably one of the big news of the past week is the arrival of the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. While the vehicle featured was technically a concept car, expect minor changes to the production version. More can be expected from Jeep and its new Wagoneer family, including many powertrains and electrified versions.
While the whole point of the Grand Wagoneer Concept is to showcase what Jeep is capable of in terms of larger SUVs, that’s not all. Jeep has a lot of plans for the Wagoneer.
As mentioned by Jeep at the Grand Wagoneer presentation and as confirmed in a Motor Trend report, the American automaker has a lot of things planned for the return of the model. These plans include two names in the frame SUV family – the Wagoneer and the Grand Wagoneer.
The Wagoneer will be Jeep’s standard SUV, which will compete with the Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Expedition, and GMC Yukon. The Grand Wagoneer is a more luxurious version (and closer to concept) that will compete for buyers with models such as the Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator. Both Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are expected to arrive in summer 2021.
In addition, there will be long wheelbase versions of the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. The long-wheelbase Wagoneer will compete with the Chevrolet Suburban, Ford Expedition Max and GMC Yukon XL, while the more premium version of the Grand Wagoneer will compete with the Escalade ESV and Navigator L.
And, with a price tag that can run into hundreds of thousands of dollars, with a longer wheelbase, the Grand Wagoneer will also compete with the Land Rover Range Rover.
