Jeep Wagoneer reappears in teaser
August 19, 2020The latest Jeep Wagoneer teaser suggests the new SUV will retain the image of its ancestors. The Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are welcome additions to the American brand’s lineup.
Almost a decade ago, FCA first announced new models and later approved a 2018 launch date. Finally, body-on-frame SUVs seem to be around the corner, and Jeep has launched a vigorous advertising campaign ahead of their official premiere. Short video clips have already whetted the appetite for the Grand Wagoneer and showcased a striking engine start / stop button covered in expensive leather, as well as a detailed aluminum front panel of the car. The third video teaser gives us a new perspective.
The Jeep Wagoneer / Grand Wagoneer video posted is a bit of car symbolism at its best. It features an old Jeep Grand Wagoneer “woodie” driving down a winding road, seen in the rearview mirror of the much more modern Grand Wagoneer. The commentary states: “The only thing that can be grander than yesterday’s adventures is tomorrow. Coming out in 2021 “.
As such, it doesn’t show the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer too much, although the teaser does suggest the new model will get a sleek frameless rearview mirror. It also suggests that Jeep paid special attention to its past in developing the all-new model, looking back at what made its earlier Grand Wagoneers so great.
The Wagoneer has historically been one of the most luxurious models in Jeep’s lineup, although it was marketed more as a station wagon than an SUV. Whether FCA will offer the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer fantastic retro faux wood exterior cladding remains a mystery.
