Jeep unveils retro Gladiator Willys

The American automaker has unveiled the 2021 Jeep Gladiator Willys with off-road performance and optional 32-inch mud tires.

Based on the Gladiator Sport and Sport S SUVs, the Willys Edition features a unique exterior with a glossy black grille and black 17-inch aluminum rims wrapped in 32-inch BFGoodrich KM2 mud tires. The package also includes Rubicon Rock rails and shocks, as well as a limited slip rear differential. There are also Willys hood decals and a retro-styled AWD badge on the tailgate.

“Building on the widely popular Wrangler Willys, we are pleased to announce that the Willys is joining the Gladiator lineup as another way Jeep connects with our customers. The Gladiator Willys models date back to the original Jeep range, offering aggressive looks and additional upgrades, ”said Jeep North America Chief Executive Jim Morrison.

Interior changes are minor, but all Jeep Gladiator Willys get all-weather floor mats, while the Sport S variant gets the Convenience and Technology packages. They add an automatic climate control system, a universal garage door opener and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.

Like the standard Gladiator, the pickup is powered by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that produces 285 hp. and a torque of 353 Nm. The unit is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive system, but for $ 2,000 it offers an 8-speed automatic as an alternative. Alternatively, for $ 4,000, buyers can opt for a 260-hp 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel. and 600 Nm, which relies exclusively on an 8-speed automatic transmission for $ 2,000.

Pickups start at $ 35,490 for the Gladiator Willys Sport and $ 39,240 for the Gladiator Willys Sport S, according to Jeep’s press office. Models are currently available and can be configured in the configurator.
