Jeep Tweets Mysterious Teaser ImageJune 24, 2021
The American automaker has posted a mysterious teaser image with the numbers “40.4” on its official Twitter page. This image from Jeep suggests a special version of the Wrangler SUV will be unveiled soon.
Jeep is preparing something interesting. The legendary brand did not tweet a photo of a vehicle, but rather a sign with a picture of a vehicle. The sign is printed with the number 40.4, and the “tweet” itself is cleverly ambiguous text that reads “A sign of things to come.”
The tweet came out at 4:02 pm ET on June 21, and while the date is probably irrelevant, we can’t help but notice that 4:02 is coincidentally close to 4:04, which in turn could mean 40 ,four.
The 40.4 could represent a nod to the range of the plug-in hybrid version of the Wrangler SUV.
This will be more than the current version of the car, in which this figure is 35.41 km. Or perhaps this teaser is a hint of a larger 40.4 kWh battery. That would be a huge upgrade, and with a battery mounted under the second row of seats, this could be what the arrow points to in the teaser.
There is more evidence to support this. On June 11, we reported that Jeep has updated its Facebook cover photo with the interior of what looks like a plug-in hybrid model. Jeep fans have discovered a few subtle details suggesting it was the interior of the Gladiator, but maybe this is really a more powerful version of the 4xe? The latest teaser shows the Wrangler clearly, and to be honest, we have a lot of confidence in Jeep fans when it comes to revealing even the smallest details.
What else could the number mean? The sign looks like what you would see on the trail, so what’s important for SUVs on the trail? Ground clearance is the obvious answer, but 40.4 inches feels a little extreme. Approach, exit and lift-off angles are important when overcoming obstacles, so the number may refer to one of these characteristics. The arrow at the back may indicate a new exit angle, but water ford should also be considered. The Wrangler currently boasts 30 inches, which is not that far from 40.
Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that the new Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe SUV will become a plug-in hybrid. The debut of the novelty is promised to be organized by the end of this year.
