Jeep told about the new Renegade crossoverJune 21, 2018
The smallest crossover Jeep has received three new gasoline supercharged engines and an improved multimedia system. Sales of restyled Renegade will begin before the end of 2018
The company Jeep told all the main technical details about the renewed compact crossover Renegade, which was presented in early June at the Turin Motor Show. The model received a number of stylistic changes, two new engines, and an improved multimedia system.
Externally, the car can be distinguished from the pre-styling model due to modernized headlights, a different front bumper and a slightly modified radiator grille. Behind appeared new lights with proprietary X-elements of red color.
The crossover will be available with LED head lights, fog lights and daytime running lights. The company noted that the use of optics with LED elements in the dark increases the view by about 50% compared to standard halogen headlights.
The line of engines of the restyling model included new inflatable petrol units. The basic was a three-cylinder engine with a working volume of one liter, developing 120 hp and 190 Nm of torque.
In addition, two 1,3-liter turbo-suits with a capacity of 150 and 180 hp became available (torque in both cases – 270 Nm). Finally, Renegade will be offered with upgraded 1.6 and 2.0 liter diesel engines. Transmission is a six-speed manual, a robotic gearbox with two clutches, or a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The interior has a modified central console with a built-in holder for the smartphone, as well as an additional USB port. In addition, an improved Uconnect infotainment system with a screen diagonal of 7 or 8.4 inches became available.
European sales of the updated Jeep Renegade will begin in September, and in other markets the crossover should appear before the end of 2018.
