Jeep launches first ever rechargeable hybrid carNovember 8, 2019
The first SI-EVT plug-in hybrid system is now available for purchase. The experimental model was the Chinese Grand Commander, which is the local version of the seven-seater Cherokee.
Jeep introduced its first rechargeable hybrid, capable of driving only on electricity up to 70 km. This is enough for the daily operation of the crossover with the route of travel from home to work and back. The battery capacity is 12.95 kW * hours. It is based on the SI-EVT gas-electric hybrid installation.
Under the hood, a 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of up to 230 horsepower and 311 Nm of torque is installed. Paired with him are two electric motors with a capacity of up to 120 horsepower (315 Nm) and 90 hp. (115 Nm). An electronically controlled variator was chosen as the transmission.
Hybrid Jeep Grand Commander received three riding modes: ICE, hybrid and electric. Interestingly, in hybrid mode, only the older electric motor is used. When braking, an effective energy recovery system using two electric motors is activated. The charging system allows you to completely replenish the amount of energy from a conventional outlet in a couple of hours.
Sales have already begun. In the next couple of years, a similar hybrid will come on many Jeep models.
Meanwhile, the 1000-horsepower Jeep Gladiator pickup will be shown at the SEMA tuning exhibition. Finalization is carried out by the famous tuning studio Hennessey.
