Jeep Gladiator will be available with a new diesel engineJuly 12, 2020
The American Jeep Gladiator pickup truck will soon be available with the new Ecodiesel engine. Sales of new items are planned to begin in the third quarter of this year.
According to a recent statement by members of the delirium, a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 will be available for the mid-size Gladiator pickup 2021 model year. As with the Wrangler 2020 SUV, this EcoDiesel engine will produce 260 horsepower (600 Nm) and work with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Sales of new items will begin in the third quarter of 2020.
In addition to the EcoDiesel V6 engine, the Gladiator will also be equipped with stiffer Dana 44 axles at the front and rear, which are usually equipped with a truck in the off-road version of Rubicon.
It is known that in the Sport and Overland trim levels, the Command-Trac all-wheel drive system with a partial gear ratio of 2.72: 1 will be used. The Rubicon version has a Rock-Track all-wheel drive system with a 4:1 ratio in the low-speed range.
The 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 uses a cylinder block cast from compacted graphite iron. The angle between the “banks” of the cylinders is 60 degrees. The crankshaft and connecting rods were made of forged steel. Pistons are aluminum. There are dual camshafts with a chain drive with four valves per cylinder.
The turbocharged engine air cooler is located at the base of the radiator grille. The mount is in the same position as the turbo-petrol power unit.
So far, there is no data about Jeep Gladiator diesel towing capacity. Gasoline versions of the model boast an indicator of 3,470 kg.
The company is also not yet discussing Jeep Gladiator diesel price. In the case of the Wrangler SUV, when choosing a diesel engine, $ 6,000 is added to the price, which is $ 4,000 for the engine and $ 2,000 for the automatic transmission.
