Jeep again launched a prototype of the updated SUV Grand Cherokee 2021June 22, 2020
On tests, a camouflaged prototype of the updated mid-size SUV Jeep Grand Cherokee was noticed. The date of the official presentation has not yet been set.
This year will be presented a completely new generation of the American Jeep Grand Cherokee. When? Well, this is the information we are still waiting for right now. The debut was supposed to happen at the Detroit Auto Show this year, but because of the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent three-month suspension of mass production, this plan was delayed.
While we expect the fifth-generation mid-size SUV to come out, the Jeep team continues to test the camouflaged prototype. The car was noticed by eyewitnesses, who decided to capture the new product on video. It is worth noting that a lot of time has passed since we saw the first prototypes of the new Grand Cherokee.
One of the main updates that awaits the Grand Cherokee 2021 model year will be its platform.
It will be built on the same “cart” as the Italian compact crossover Alfa Romeo Stelvio and Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan. This platform is called Giorgio. The SUV will become much longer – the current 2.71 meter wheelbase will be increased, which will allow Jeep to create the third row in this generation of the SUV.
Reportedly, several engine options will appear. A 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine will be the base, while more expensive models will receive the Pentastar V6 engine already familiar to everyone with the eTorque system. The buyer will be available and plug-in hybrid powertrain, as well as a diesel 3.0-liter V6. The latter is equipped with a full-sized Ram 1500 pickup truck, in which, the power of this motor is 260 hp. (651 Nm).
Not so long ago, our publication wrote that the FCA recalls approximately 67,000 Jeep Cherokee. FCA on Thursday, June 18, announced a global recall of 67,248 copies of the Jeep Cherokee. Models that were released between April 14, 2014 and October 10, 2016 are being withdrawn.
