Japan’s new car sales down 27%July 6, 2020
Despite the completion of quarantine measures related to the coronavirus epidemic, the automotive industry will not reach the pre-crisis level.
Analysts and statistics agency experts shared data on sales volumes of new cars in Japan in June 2020. Last month, residents of the Land of the Rising Sun bought 182 128 new cars, which is 26.6% less than in June 2019. The Japanese traditionally favor local car brands.
Toyota took the lead with 89,113 cars sold. Sales of the brand fell by 22.5%, but this did not stop her from taking a 50% stake in the car market in June. Honda ranks second with a huge lag – brand dealers in Japan were able to sell 24,678 new cars – a minus of 30.4%. Supplements TOP-3 Nissan, whose choice on the cars which stopped 16 316 residents of Japan (-40.3%).
For the first half of the year, 1,198,424 new cars were sold in Japan – this result is 19.9% lower than last year for the same period.
Previously, Honda presented the updated crossover WR-V, which is the budget in the lineup of the brand. To start sales in the car market in India, engineers had to improve the environmental friendliness of the car.
