Japanese Honda Insight significantly distanced from the American versionDecember 14, 2018
Honda introduced a new sedan with a hybrid setup for the native market (Japan). Despite the fact that the new generation for America was presented in the spring, but the Japanese version received a number of differences.
The Japanese version of the new Honda Insight hybrid sedan has received an excellent design from the previously presented for the American market. Judging by the presented images, the company decided to equip the new product with a new bumper, a modified grille, as well as a spoiler on the trunk lid.
Despite the differences in exterior design, inside and technically the Insight remains the same. In the cabin, the only difference was the change in the location of the steering wheel. For the rest, even in the electrical part there is no change. Perhaps the company has reconfigured suspension and steering control for a local audience.
As the basis of the hybrid system, an atmospheric engine of 1.5 liters is used, capable of developing up to 109 horsepower and 134 nm of torque. Despite the fact that the internal combustion engine is clearly weak for a large sedan, owners will not feel a lack of power thanks to two electric motors, adding models up to 130 forces and 267 Nm of torque.
Feature of the hybrid is the mode of operation. Most of the time, electric traction is used, and the internal combustion engine acts as a generator. With increasing speed or load, the power take-off begins with the gasoline engine.
