Jaguar XJ new generation will not be completely electricJune 25, 2019
The flagship model is currently available with an engine range that includes 3.0-and 5.0-liter turbocharged engines. Meanwhile, previously various representatives of the company, including former chief designer of Jaguar, Jan Callum, promised that the new sedan will receive revolutionary changes that will make it more popular than the current model.
Rumors claimed that the XJ will be released as a fully electric model that will compete with the Tesla Model S and the upcoming Audi E-Tron GT.
According to sources familiar with the company’s plans, the next-generation XJ will be one of the first cars built on the Jaguar Land Rover modular MLA platform. It will be available in an electric version, but the company will also keep the version with a gasoline inline six-cylinder engine, which can also get some form of electrification. The electric version will receive a lithium-ion battery at 90.2 kW / h. The maximum range of the course will be about 482 km.
Other technical details remain secret. However, the wait for the news is not long. Production of the current generation Jaguar XJ ends in July. Thus, the model of the new generation should be presented before the end of the year.
