Jaguar with the help of firmware will increase the cruising range of I-Pace crossoversDecember 5, 2019
Jaguar Corporation will update the firmware for I-Pace, which will increase the range of the electric crossover by 8%. The new software was created according to the I-Pace eTrophy racing program, and now it is offered for mass cars.
The Electrek web portal was able to find a letter about the “power reserve enhancement program” that the British brand sent to I-Pace owners. It notes that as a result of a free firmware update, mileage will increase by 8%: for example, instead of 480 km, the cross will travel 518 km through the WLTP cycle.
Following the update, the algorithm of the four-wheel drive system in Eco mode and the duration of closing active dampers to improve aerodynamic performance will be changed, and the battery will be able to operate at lower charge levels.
The data for modernization, as noted in the corporation, was obtained in the process of fine-tuning the racing I-Pace eTrophy. But you will need an analysis of the daily use of machines in real conditions. I-Pace recalibrated the regenerative braking system – now it functions more efficiently with a high battery charge and returns more energy at low speed – and changed the program for calculating the residual mileage.
The early I-Pace models will also get updated dashboard graphics, and on all vehicles the firmware is updated “over the air”.
In addition, the debut shots of the updated Jaguar F-Pace crossover have recently appeared on the Internet. The official demonstration of the British news should take place in 2020.
