Jaguar will launch a series of electric E-TypeAugust 25, 2018
Owners of original petrol cars will be offered to convert them into electric cars
The company Jaguar decided to launch an electric version of the classic sports car E-Type in small-scale production. Owners of original cars will also be offered to convert them to electric traction, but for the sake of preserving the authenticity of models the conversion will be reversible.
In September last year, the conceptual version of the electric Jaguar E-Type was introduced. The roadster received a 299-horsepower engine with a single-stage reduction gear and lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 40 kilowatt hours, located on the site of the transmission tunnel.
To 100 km/h such a machine is capable of typing in 5.5 seconds. Without recharging, it can travel up to 270 kilometers. It takes about six to seven hours to “refuel” the batteries.
Technical characteristics and cost of the production version of the electric car are not specified yet. At the same time, the company notes that the brand’s customers are very interested in acquiring such a car.
The first customers will receive an electric Jaguar E-Type in the spring of 2020.
