Jaguar may be missing several modelsNovember 13, 2020
At the initiative of the new head of Jaguar, Thierry Bollore, the company may curtail the development of the electric XJ sedan, in which tens of millions of euros have already been invested.
As the Sunday Times reports, the same fate threatens to befall some other models of the British brand, including existing and promising ones. It is worth saying that by reducing the model line, the new leader wants to seriously save money and put things in order in the model line. Along with this, Bollore is unhappy with the presence of a large number of similar cars in the lineup and with the sales results.
For the sake of reducing losses of the British brand, Bollore plans to curtail the project of a top-end sedan on electric traction. It should be reminded that the project has already been practically completed. The electric XJ was supposed to enter the assembly line early next year, but due to the pandemic, the launch of production was postponed until October.
As noted by a foreign agency, the head of the company does not believe that the new electric car will be able to gain success in the market. Along with this, it is quite possible for Jaguar to refuse to create electric crosses on the same architecture, which were supposed to appear on the market under the Jaguar and Range Rover brands.
Finally, the British brand may abandon some production vehicles, such as the XE and XF models, and the Land Rover Discovery Sport. In turn, the JLR did not comment on this information in any way.
In addition, it was recently noted that a rare Jaguar XE SV Project 8 was put up for sale. It should be emphasized that this car of the British brand, which has a mileage of 1400 kilometers, is currently located in the United States.
