Jaguar Land Rover has begun testing automatic door opening systems. For her work, she uses proximity sensors and keyless entry technology. Sensors on the driver’s side can track objects near the car and display corresponding notifications on the dashboard.
The system, focused primarily on people with disabilities, automatically recognizes the owner of the car and opens the door when it is approached or using gestures. You can close the doors from the salon by pressing the button located in the ceiling console or from the display on the center console. At the same time, the status of each door is displayed on the screen of the multimedia complex.
Sensors embedded on the driver’s side distinguish pillars and other objects, preventing opening and damage to the door. The system can be programmed to automatically close the door and lock it when the owner departs from the car.
Earlier, the Range Rover Sport SUV, equipped with a JLR autonomous control system, successfully drove along one of the most difficult routes in the UK – the Coventry Ring Road. The car independently coped with rebuilds, passing intersections and junctions, observing traffic rules and speed limits.
