Jaguar has patented a rather unusual supercarSeptember 24, 2020
Jaguar has patented the image of its new supercar. According to rumors, the novelty may well become a worthy successor to the legendary Jaguar XJ220, the production of which ceased in 1994.
The images below are allegedly taken from Jaguar Land Rover’s design documentation. The pictures themselves were published on a foreign forum, and judging by the text attached to them, the patent application was filed in China on March 17, 2020. They have also been filed with the European Union Intellectual Property Office, and details of the new vehicle were not known at the time of this writing.
Why can these design documents be submitted? It’s possible that the automaker has an all-new supercar in mind.
In the 90s of the last century, Jaguar was selling its legendary XJ220 supercar.
It is a very special car with 542 horsepower and a top speed of 341.7 km / h. I must say that this is a rather impressive result for that time, in principle, as for today.
Since the Jaguar XJ220 was discontinued in 1994, there has been no supercar left in the automaker’s lineup. Of course, there is a sporty F-Type, but this car still cannot be called a full-fledged supercar.
Could this be the production version of the previously shown C-X75 concept in the patent images? Or could it be an early look at the next-generation mid-engined F-Type? We will never know for sure until Jaguar makes an official announcement.
Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that they demonstrated the updated Jaguar F-Pace. Jaguar on Tuesday, September 15, showed the restyled F-Pace cross. The crossover has got a revised appearance, a refreshed interior and a reformed engine line.
