Jaguar announces new model developmentJuly 23, 2019
Among the new products will be the flagship J-Pace crossover and A-Pace mini-cross.
Last year’s release of the Jaguar F-Pace crossover made a real sensation. During sales in Europe, 23.5 thousand copies were sold, and in the USA a little less than 15 thousand. After such a success, the company is going to expand the line of crossovers. The place of the flagship model will be given to the car with the name J-Pace, which should become a competitor to BMW X7, Audi Q7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class. To select a prototype from several options, a special jury commission was invited.
The novelty will be built on a completely new MLA platform. With it, you can use different versions of power plants – classic internal combustion engines, classic and plug hybrids, as well as all-electric motors.
The first car that comes off the assembly line on the MLA platform will be the Land Rover Defender. At the moment there is no information about the company’s plans to create an all-electric version. In addition to the flagship J-Pace, the company Jaguar are going to create more compact crossovers. No information about them yet. It is assumed that they will be called A-Pace and B-Pace.
Meanwhile, the reworked 1966 Jaguar XJ13 is ready to go on the road. From the car of the 1960s, engineers made a sports car.
