It’s not over yet: Nissan plans to launch a new 370Z

Nissan is keen to replace the current 370Z with the new Z-car Performance.

The current version of the iconic Z-car was introduced more than ten years ago, and there is speculation that it will be removed from the brand line due to tightening environmental standards for CO2 emissions and fuel efficiency.

However, speaking at the Tokyo Motor Show, Nissan’s senior vice president of design, Alfonso Albaisa, said the company “will never leave this alone.”

When asked if he could imagine the successor to the 370Z, Albaisa replied: “It’s easy to imagine. Z is the car that democratized sports cars back in the sixties. The current car has been working at dealerships for a long time, so you can imagine Giovanni (Arroba, Nissan’s chief electric car designer) and the designers working on it. ”

“We could never leave him alone. It is in our soul. You can feel it in other Nissan projects, such as the new Ariya; it’s not just about fuel efficiency, but about driving for the love of driving, ”he added.

Albaisa also confirmed that Ariya herself is likely to reach production soon. “I can’t give you a date, because it is a global machine, and everything can change, but, obviously, we are ready.”
